I wrote this song but ultimately felt like it was too cheesy sonically and lyrically. That being said for whatever reason I decided to play it for my guitar player Andrew. I am pretty sure I prefaced it with "hey I kind of want to show you this song but I feel like it's a little lame", or at least something along those lines. While I was playing it Andrew picked up his guitar and wrote that sweet lead line in the intro, you know the one that goes do doo doo doo doo do doo dooo dooo, Yeah that one. Anyways, we were pretty stoked on how it sounded and he suggested I record the song, like an actual studio recording instead of the bedroom bullshit I had been making at the time. It was supposed to just be a single but instead I decided to make an ep. Also it's not even the single.
lyrics
here's the letter
i meant to write you
sixteen months overdue
and of course it reads "i miss you"
of course it doesn't read "oh go i need you"
oh no it happened again
the same mistakes
repeating
and i fear that's how i'll end
every three word phrase a lie
and you'll be free
and i felt free
well you bring out
the best in me
make me who i want to be
at least until the morning
that's far too often
so goddamn disappointing
oh no it happened again
the same mistakes
repeating
and i fear that's how i'll end
every three word phrase a lie
and you'll be free
and i felt free
